Hey there! My name is Dexter. I’m a 25-year-old traveler originally from Houston, Texas. I’ve been consistently traveling since January 2015. I have just returned from my 4-month trip through Southeast Asia, Australia and New Zealand! I visited eight countries, made lots of great people along the way and even saw a few familiar faces. It was definitely the biggest and best trip of my life! Simply amazing.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Are you back?
Wait, where did you go? How many countries did you visit?
What are you going to do now?
I’m going to Disney World! Actually, I’m not. I’d love to go back to Disney, but right now I’m trying to get back into working as a nurse (TBD). I have a few trips planned here and there, nothing big, but will definitely continue to travel in the coming months.
What was your favorite country to visit from your trip?
Hands down, New Zealand! The entire country is filled with beautiful sights on both the north and south island. There’s a TON of things to do and see while you’re there! I had an entire month, and I still feel like there is more to explore! I would definitely go back to New Zealand in a heartbeat. Most importantly, the Kiwi Experience made my time in NZ the most memorable! I met lots of travelers from all over the world (mostly the UK), but it was so nice to have a group of friends to travel with for awhile instead of being alone! Best part, we all started as solo travelers until we found each other.
What is the best thing that you did while you were traveling?
It’s so hard to compare the experiences, because they were all so different! Definitely in the top 5 would be: spending a day pampering elephants in Chiang Mai, learning to SCUBA dive in Koh Tao, the 3-days and 2-nights living on a boat in the Whitsundays, my first helicopter ride and hiking Franz Josef Glacier, and witnessing a live haka in Rotorua!
If you could visit any country in the entire world, which would it be?
Iceland. It is a particularly new addition to my travel bucket list but after seeing so many photos and videos of the country, I’m dying to go! I would definitely want to see the Northern Lights while I’m there. Also, Sense 8 is cool, so…yeah.
What is your next destination?
Right now, the only trip I have left for the year is a long weekend in San Francisco, but there will most likely be more added once I have a better idea of what my life will look like.
